Facilities Committee Presentation September 2021
With committee co-chair Bill England presiding, the Facilities Committee convened over Zoom on Tuesday, Sept. 14. CSD Acting Superintendent Dr. Nancy Hacker presented updates on the search for a new facilities director (second round has been completed; third round being scheduled). Building and maintenance updates were delivered on installation of the high school football field scoreboard; pipe condensation issues which have caused the temporary closure of the Joseph W. Rodgers Culture & Resource Center at CHS; a control system failure preventing visuals of sections of high school HVAC controls; Hurricane Ida-related flooding and remediation at Cedarbrook Middle School; boiler cracking at Elkins Park; and air conditioning unit installation at the Administration Building. Dr. Hacker’s district wide maintenance report covered HVAC filters, air purifiers, painting, parking lot / road markings, water bottle fillers, and other preventive maintenance. Ongoing capital projects discussed during the meeting include the Stretton Hall wall at the high school, glycol leak at Wyncote and Cedarbrook gym floor repair. Dr. Hacker wrapped up the presentation with the announcement that external facilities bookings, including the Cheltenham Township Adult School, will be accepted for now, but that this could change in the future depending on COVID conditions. Bookings are contingent upon implementation of all school district COVID protocols, including masking and social distancing. Progress on work orders noted in SchoolDude, the computerized maintenance management system portal and tracking system, will continue to be shared each month. The next Facilities Committee meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
