(February 24, 2023) Celebrating 50 years of hip hop, the 20-member Cedarbrook Hip Hop Club staged “Showtime at the Apollo” in the CBK Auditorium on Thursday evening. The two-act show included dance, poetry and spoken word performances. Act one was “The New Hosts of the Apollo,” and the second act was titled “Amateur Night.” One of the highlights of the show was eighth grader Maliah Opuni performing her original spoken word piece, “Set My Skin Ablaze.” Other numbers included “The Dreamers’ Dance” and “Poetry of the Harlem Renaissance.”
