Cedarbrook Student’s Work to Be Performed at Philly Young Playwrights “Plays in Process”

cbk logo(December 6, 2022) Eighth grader Natalie Harmon-Ward's monologue, “A Witch in the Woods,” is being performed at the Louis Bluver Theater in Philadelphia next weekend as part of the Philadelphia Young Playwrights’ (PYP) “Plays in Process” program.

Selected from over 500 submissions, Harmon-Ward’s monologue and four other works will be staged. Donovan Lockett will direct Harmon-Ward’s piece. The PYP website lauds the shows as a “glimpse at the freshest new plays written by the next generation of great writers, artists, and thinkers!”

“A Witch in the Woods” tells the heartbreaking story of a lonely witch who finds a baby on their doorstep. As they wait to see if someone will come back for the baby, they talk about the town and its cruelty in ousting the witch long ago. When night falls and no one has come for the baby, the witch takes the baby in to live with them.
