David Teasdale Named Director of Facilities and Maintenance at Cheltenham School District
ELKINS PARK, Pa. (June 19, 2019) - David Teasdale has been appointed the director of facilities and maintenance at the Cheltenham School District (CSD), and begins his tenure Monday, July 1. The CSD Board of School Directors approved his hiring at its June 11 Legislative meeting.
Most recently the director of operations for the New Hope-Solebury School District, in New Hope, Pa., the Australian native who moved to the United States in 2017, is an experienced facilities manager with 18 years of experience, including 13 years in a management capacity, in the education sector.
At the New Hope-Solebury School District, Teasdale was responsible for managing the transportation, security and custodial staffs and budget, ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. He oversaw the deferred maintenance of all district buildings, equipment, vehicles, utilities and furnishings and was the project manager for capital improvement programs. He also acted as a community liaison to adhere to safety, security and emergency procedures, and oversaw the district’s emergency preparedness and safety programs.
Prior to working at New Hope Solebury, Teasdale served as the general manager of facilities at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, a pre-K to 12th grade school in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and the third oldest school of its kind in the United States. At the school, Teasdale managed the maintenance, contractor and custodial staffs and ensured the facilities’ compliance to safety regulations.
Before immigrating to the U.S., Teasdale worked for 13 years at the Mentone Grammar School in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. He served seven years as the grounds/gardens property manager before being promoted to property/facilities manager, a position he held for the next seven years.
Teasdale earned a diploma in facilities management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, in 2019, and a diploma in turf management from Holmesglen Institute of Technology in Waverley, Victoria, in 2001. He resides in the Andorra section of Philadelphia his wife Jennifer, a Philadelphia native, and 4-year-old daughter Josephine.
