On Saturday, Dec. 15, the Cheltenham Elementary School Robo-Dolphins (fourth graders Andre Agyare, Caleb Armstrong, Lizi Bailey, Jordy Barrera, Makai Dempsey,
Giovanni Francis, Nylah Mattaway, Anton Nguyen, Tobenna Ojukwu, Gerard-Bernard Sejour, Jacob Shin and Kailey White) attended the FIRST Lego League qualifying tournament at Philadelphia’s Central High School and was thrilled to come away with the Judges’ Award for Newcomer Spirit.
According to advisor Gerald Aungst, “The students were poised, confident and enthusiastic during three rounds of project judging in the morning and during the robot coding challenge in the afternoon.”
The team hopes to build on its first year by starting to prepare a new group of third graders this spring to hit the ground running for next fall’s competitive season. To foster that development, Cheltenham ES is holding a Family Code and Robotics Night for the community on Saturday, March 30.
