CHS Robotics Takes 12th at the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) Mid-Atlantic Competition
(March 16, 2023) The CHS Robotics Team, Simple Machines 423, competed in the first of two qualifiers for the year at the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) Mid-Atlantic Competition at Hatboro-Horsham on March 4 - 5, 2023. Simple Machines 423 had a strong placement of 12th in the qualifiers and then advanced to the playoffs as the Alliance 8 team captain thanks to its focused drivers team and nimble pit crew! As the Team 8 captain, Simple Machines selected two other teams with complementary abilities to include in its alliance during playoffs.
This year’s FRC theme is “CHARGED UP.” Two competing alliances bring energy to their community by retrieving cones and cubes and scoring them in a grid. The game features autonomous and driver-controlled periods, during which teams can score points by retrieving and scoring game pieces, as well as docking on or engaging with their charge station for extra points. Teams strategize and work together to finish as the top alliance in this fast-paced competition.
Simple Machines Team members include seniors Jonah M. and Kian K.; junior Sam H.; sophomores Graham L. and Emmaline S.; and freshman Quill R., Ethan H., Evan H. and Erik F. Special thanks to the school, sponsors and mentors who meet regularly with the students throughout the year. Without these supports, this team would not be possible!
