Cheltenham Taking Gold at SkillsUSA Districts

students posing with their medals at skillsusa(February 14, 2023) Four Cheltenham students who attend the EASTERN Center took home gold in the SkillsUSA District competition, which took place throughout the past month. By taking first place, they earned the right to compete in the SkillsUSA state competition in April.

Seniors Mya Whitted, a student in the cosmetology program, won the cosmetology contest, and Chaiyah Levy, an allied health program student, won the customer service category. CHS juniors Henri Heath and Marin Goldfarb also took home gold medals. A networking and cybersecurity student, Heath won the Information Technology Service competition, while Goldfarb, a design, photography and illustration student, won the T-shirt design competition.

Congratulations as well to junior Tori Simmons, a student in the vet sciences program, who finished second in the job skills demonstration open category.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, events and competitions to support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.
