CHS Students Partnering with FarmerJawn to Develop Place-Based Curriculum

(December 5, 2022) Project Based Learning seniors are gearing up for their spring semester internship experiences and will be meeting with their mentors throughout December.  Amelia Fishman is building upon the relationship PBL established with FarmerJawn this past school year, and will develop and pilot place-based curriculum at the farm site on the Elkins Estate. Her goal is to establish FarmerJawn as an in-district field trip site where teachers can bring students for hands-on science experiences aligned with state standards.

FarmerJawn COO Brandon Ritter will serve as a mentor for Fishman who is partnering on the project with CHS Student Council Sustainability representative Charlie Sywulak-Herr. A tireless advocate for positioning environmental awareness and stewardship as one of CSD's core educational values, Sywulak-Herr also serves on the district’s strategic planning advisory committee.
