(September 21, 2022) Student leaders from nearly 40 clubs and organizations lined the track at CHS Stadium on September 21 for the 2022-23 Clubs and Activities Fair. Students weaved in and out of the line-up of tables to become a member of a new club or organization, as well as speak with the student leaders.
“We have so many amazing opportunities for students outside of the classroom,” said CHS Principal Jimmy D’Andrea, “and this is an excellent opportunity for them to learn about them during our community lunch today.”
Among the participants, Panther Partners works with the life skills students to create a warm and welcoming environment at school. “This year, we plan to do some fun fall activities like trick or treating and pumpkin painting with the life skills students,” said co-presidents Ruby Toledo and Jordyn Kelman.
The Gender and Sexuality Alliance creates a safe space for students within the school’s LGBTQIA+ community. “We are still trying to figure things in our schedule out since the pandemic affected our ability to hold events,” said president Carson Delany. “During our meetings, we discuss any issues surrounding queer culture that may impact our members. We would like to hold events for Pride and a vigil for the Trans Day of Remembrance, but for now our focus is recruiting new members.”
Clubs which participated in the fair included the Class of 2023, Black Student Union, United Asians Speaking, Women in STEM, Organic Farm Club, Panther Partners, Project Based Learning, Unified Bocce, Esports, Robotics Team, Key Club, Poetry Club, Environmental Club, Blue and Gold, Cyber Security Team, National Art Honor Society, Gender and Sexuality Alliance, and Government Club, to name a few. CHS athletic teams were also present.
