CHS Future Problem Solving Teams Qualify for States

Future Problem Solvers Two Cheltenham High School teams of Future Problem Solvers qualified for the Pennsylvania Future Problem Solving Bowl, previously scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25 in Harrisburg. The state bowl was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though both teams will receive certificates for their accomplishments at the state level.

“We look forward to next year and the opportunity to compete in person in Harrisburg and possibly move on to the International level under better circumstances,” said coach Sarah Putterman.

The freshman team of Mina Rothberg, Ella Nadler, Sadie Leary and Henry Rubin qualified for the Senior Division, an accomplishment especially impressive, as the majority of participants state-wide are sophomores, juniors and seniors. The junior squad of Alec Lempert, Jared Seehusahai, Seth Bernstein and Peter Griffen also qualified for the Senior Division with a goal of going to the international competition in June 2020.

“We are proud of our problem solving teams across the district,” Putterman continued. “We hope next year provides more opportunities for participation in district, state, and possibly even international problem solving bowls.”
