CHS Class of 1986 alum Nomi Saunders attended Penn State, where she majored in English and graduated with honors. From there, Nomi went to Brown University where she received an M.F.A. in Fiction Writing. Nomi has published two novels, The Family Orchard, (Knopf) and Henna House (Scribners).The Family Orchard was an LA Times Bestseller and a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award.
Henna House was chosen as the One Book One Jewish Community Read in 2014 in Philadelphia, and was featured on many must-read lists by popular book bloggers around the country. Nomi has visited over 175 book clubs, either in person or by Skype to chat about her books and has been featured in the Huffington Post, the Skype Blog and in Publisher's Weekly for her innovative use of book clubs and technology to reach book enthusiasts and cultivate a community of readers. Nomi has taught at Brown University, Wheaton College and Bryn Mawr. She currently serves as Director of Storylab at Drexel University, where she teaches fiction writing.
