CHS’ Simple Machines Wins 10th Annual girlPOWER Robotics Competition

girlPower Robotics participants This past weekend, the CHS robotics team Simple Machines (FRC423) teamed with squads from Robbinsville and Mt. Olive high schools in New Jersey to win the 10th annual girlPOWER (Preparing Outstanding Women Engineers through Robotics) robotics competition at Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy. The event aims to expose robotics to new students, particularly girls.

CHS students Liza Kim, Venus Agbadan, River Somerville and Mia Weisman participated in the offseason event based on the DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE game from this past school year’s competition. “Destination: Deep Space” centers around an outer space theme involving two alliances consisting of three teams each competing to place poly-carbonate hatch covers and orange rubber balls or “cargo” on rockets and cargo ships before returning to and climbing to the top of their homebase at the end of the match.

This year’s challenge, INFINITE RECHARGE, will be revealed on January 4, 2020.
