CE’s Paige Budin Named Honored Hero for Philadelphia Light the Night

Paige Budin Five years after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, undergoing treatment and being declared cancer free, Cheltenham Elementary K-2 Learning Support teacher Paige Budin has been selected as this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) “Honored Hero” for Philadelphia Light the Night campaign.

With the backing of her team Paige's Purple Pledge, Budin is the Honored Hero for the Light the Night event on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Each year, the LLS Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter hosts four “Light the Night” events in the area. For each event, an Honored Hero (like Budin) speaks at the event night ceremony and is present at other LLS events throughout the Light the Night season.

“This is an organization that is doing the right thing with the dollars it raises,” Budin said. “I’m proud to be associated with LLS.”

Budin considers the honor “the opportunity of a lifetime” to make a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients. Since being told she was cancer free following months of chemotherapy and radiation, she has been raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Paige's Purple Pledge. The team’s goal from now until the end of the year is to raise $5,000, which will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find cures and ensure patients have access to the treatments they need.
