Now in its 13th year, SMT is an innovative educational experience for high schoolers utilizing music to motivate greater interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and features a deep integration of STEM with arts and design. Through music, students explore technical concepts in an engaging and impactful way. Initially developed with support from the National Science Foundation, SMT focuses on creating and making and involves hands-on, project-based learning. Topics explored include sound synthesis, instrument acoustics, audio effects, artificial intelligence for music recommendation, musical app development and creative robotics.
