Freshman’s Bar Mitzvah Project Benefits CHS Unified Sports and Life Skills
CHS freshman Matthew Shuster presented the school board with a check for $800 to support unified sports and life skills classes at the high school at Tuesday evening’s legislative meeting. The fundraising venture served as his bar mitzvah project and raised money through partnering with Sprinkles Ice Cream Shoppe in Elkins Park.
“My inspiration for making this my bar mitzvah project came to me when the life skill students visited my classroom in eighth grade, and I was moved by their situation,” Shuster said. “They need more equipment to exercise and have more fun.”
Shuster plans to continue raising money for unified sports and life skills next year and has set an ambitious goal of $1,000.
