CBK Students Celebrate Brazil Day

CBK students study Brazil Cedarbrook seventh graders enrolled in Isaac Stanford’s Social Studies class experienced the dynamic cultural experiences associated with the Land of the Palms at this past week’s Brazil Day celebration. Students observed and heard the dance and music representing the 208 million Brazilians and enjoyed traditional Brazilian food, including Guaraná Brazilian soda and pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread).

According to Stanford, the program gives students the opportunity to connect their classroom time studying Brazil with real world experience and see world-class performance artists. Students enjoyed performances by capoeira dancers, the band Minas Brazil, and food from Picanha Brazilian Steakhouse in Northeast Philadelphia. The program was made possible by a generous grant from the Cheltenham School District Foundation and student contributions. Photos: Dave Tavani
