On Wednesday, April 10, the Wyncote Jazz Band and CHS Jazz Big Band played at Warm Daddy’s by Penns Landing as part of Jazz Journeys Educational Institute’s“Night Club at Noon” program in honor of Jazz History Month. Mathematics Civics and Science Charter School from Philadelphia also performed.
The two hour event that includes a mini jazz concert, is an outreach initiative that addresses the trends in reduction of arts funding and elimination of music programs in school systems. Students meet, ask questions and showcase their talents on programs with area, national and international musicians. The programs show how music helps to overcome cultural differences and stresses the need for dedication and practice to achieve excellence in music, as well as life, and incorporate the principles behind Jazz and an appreciation of the importance of music, education and technology in everyday life.
