Alumnae Return to CHS, Talk about College Experiences
Members of the CHS Class of 2014 Jessica Vaden and Alexus Reynolds returned to the high school recently to speak to students in Rebecca Fairchild's Biology classes about their post-secondary educational pursuits. Vaden and Reynolds answered students’ questions about planning their high school courses, adjusting to college life, how to earn scholarships and discover research opportunities, and selecting careers in science. The pair facilitated a goal-setting discussion for the students to culminate their presentation.
As part of the presentation, the women discussed the research with which they’ve been involved. Vaden, who earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland - Baltimore County in 2018 and will soon begin a doctoral program in environmental engineering, recounted research involving swine wastewater purification, daycare center air quality testing and gas meter replacement project management. Reynolds, who earned degrees in biology and Spanish literature and language from Villanova in 2018 and is pursuing a public health master’s degree in epidemiology at Drexel, shared about her research opportunities at Fox Chase Cancer Center and serving as the co-host of Villanova's first Melanin in Medicine Conference.
