Thanksgiving Basket Project Caps Student Council Philanthropic Fall
Cheltenham High School Student Council raised more than $1,600 through homeroom collections to provide Thanksgiving day meals to 40 local families in need. The baskets included instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, macaroni and cheese, jarred gravy, canned vegetables, and, of course, a turkey.
"What a tremendous collective effort," said student council co-sponsor Ryan Nase. "Thank you to the high school homeroom teachers for their extraordinary efforts in collecting for our Thanksgiving baskets. We even had a handful of teachers match their rooms' donations. We are part of a special community."
Earlier this fall, student council also raised more than $900 for pediatric brain tumor research and $700 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Next up is a collection for the Easter Seals Holiday Toy Drive.
