CSD Receives $20K Safety Grant from PA Department of Education
The Cheltenham School District has been awarded a $20,000 safety grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Safe Schools program. The funds will be utilized to create and launch the district’s threat assessment team.
The Alexandria, Virginia-based SIGMA Threat Management Associates will conduct the training. Sigma is a partnership of experts in behavioral threat assessment, threat management and violence prevention. School threat assessment programs can identify and help address a broad array of problematic behavior. The training will enable the district team to learn best practices for assessing and managing threatening situations and establishing protocols.
The Department of Education doled out more than $1 million in safety grants to districts across the state in four categories: equipment grants, program grants, grants for school police officers, and grants for school resource officers.
