Dr. Feeley, whose appointment was approved at the Feb. 13 legislative board meeting, succeeds Dr. Tamara Thomas Smith, who resigned after eight years to become the superintendent of the Upper Merion Area School District. Dr. Feeley, who begins her tenure on March 4, will fulfill the role until the end of the 2023-24 school year when the selection of the new assistant superintendent for the Cheltenham School District is completed.

“I am excited and honored to begin working in the Cheltenham School District during this interim period,” Feeley said. “I know following Dr. Smith will be no easy task, as she was an excellent leader who inspired many staff and cared deeply about all students in CSD. I will do my best to continue her legacy and uphold the values of academic excellence, inclusion, and belonging. I look forward to collaborating with all of you and serving the needs of the diverse and talented school community over the several months.”

Dr. Feeley, who retired as the Lower Moreland Superintendent in October 2018 after 13 years, brings extensive experience, passion, innovative leadership, and a commitment to academic excellence as a teacher, special education supervisor, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. She has successfully navigated complex educational landscapes, spearheading initiatives that have transformed schools and districts. Her expertise lies in strategic planning, collaborative stakeholder engagement, and inclusive and safe school practices.

Dr. Feeley has filled the following interim positions since her retirement: Upper Dublin School District Interim Superintendent of Schools (August through December 2023); Upper Dublin School District Interim Supervisor of Special Education (March through July 2022); Interim Principal of Enfield Elementary School in the Springfield School District (2019-20); and Upper Perkiomen School District Interim Director of Student Services (2018).

Prior to serving as Lower Moreland Superintendent, Dr. Feeley was the assistant superintendent in Upper Merion Area School District for seven years; elementary principal and supervisor of special education in the North Penn School District for 10 years; supervisor of special education and teacher at Chester County Intermediate Unit; and a special education teacher at the Devereux Foundation.

A resident of North Wales, Pa., Dr. Feeley received her doctorate in educational leadership from Immaculata; her master’s degree in educational leadership from Villanova; and her bachelor’s degree from Penn State in special education.
