CSD Students Commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day

students at the UN(Jan. 29, 2024) Cedarbrook and Cheltenham High School students attended the International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the United Nations in New York on Friday with their retired EP teacher, Lise Marlowe, who is the program director of the Holocaust Awareness Museum in Elkins Park. The program leads the annual observance of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

Students listened to many speakers, including two Holocaust survivors, the Tennenbaum sisters, and Ambassador Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, who is the United States Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. The students were able to meet and speak with Dr. Lipstadt as they were walking into the event and had a photo with her.

A special thank you to Principal Craig Metcalfe who helped Mrs. Marlowe organize this special opportunity for her former students and for hosting three Holocaust survivors this past week at Cedarbrook.
