students with their instruments(Jan. 18, 2024) Following a rigorous day of auditions, (l to r) sophomores Maram Kennerly (bass), William Edgar (cello) and Adora Abdul (viola) have been selected to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s (PMEA) District 11 Orchestra Festival March 7-8 at Harriton High School. A fourth student, a junior cello player, was selected but wishes to remain anonymous. Abdul and Edgar qualified last year. This is Kennerly’s first time qualifying.

These students were chosen from a pool of hundreds of students from schools across Bucks and Montgomery counties. The District 11 Orchestra Festival is followed by the Region Orchestra Festival March 21-23 at CB West High School and the PMEA Annual Conference in Erie in April.

The PMEA District 11 comprises all levels of public, private, parochial, college and university, as well as retired music educators, administrators and music industry representatives from throughout Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The organization aims to advance the study of music education throughout the commonwealth and encourage excellence in the study and teaching of music. The association supports and promotes quality music education through statewide workshops, conferences, performances and festivals.
