CES Students Collaborate with CHS Students for Hour of Code

studnets(December 13, 2023) During the week of December 4-8, 2023, Cheltenham Elementary celebrated Hour of Code. Every classroom from kindergarten through grade 4 participated in an activity learning how to program computers. For the third year in a row, students were joined each day by Cheltenham High School students from teacher Sarah Putterman’s computer science classes, who helped the elementary students solve problems and gain coding skill. Students explored coding puzzles with fun themes like Star Wars, Dance Party, and Minecraft. Some classes also experienced an introduction to how artificial intelligence works. Coding teaches students problem solving, collaboration, and computational thinking skills which they can apply in many different areas of school and life.

Students in grades 2-4 have ongoing opportunities to learn coding and robotics in the iLab at CES every year, and the school also hosts an annual Family Code and Robotics Night for the community. This year will be the sixth annual event and will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Photos>
