(December 15, 2022) The Elkins Park School Leadership Academy has focused on aviation-themed lessons throughout the month. 

CSD’s Instructional Technology Teacher Leader for K-6 schools Kevin Murphy prepared students for takeoff with a lesson on drones. Murphy taught the students the fundamentals of flying a drone, including the different rules and regulations for hobbyist flying, as well as a breakdown of the different parts of a drone and the programming systems used to make it work. The lesson concluded with a discussion on career opportunities involving drone flying and how drones can be used in the future to make deliveries more efficient.  

United Airlines 737 Captain Cedric Davis visited EP recently and shared his background on becoming a pilot, highlighted career paths in aviation, and empowered the students with the many life lessons he has discovered throughout his career.
