Mechel Horsey Appointed Secondary Home and School Visitor

mechel horsey headshot(October 19, 2022) With over a decade of social work experience, Mechel Horsey has been appointed the secondary home and school visitor for student services for the Cheltenham School District. 

“As a proud Cheltenham High School alum, I am honored to have the opportunity to support the students and families of the Cheltenham School District,” said Horsey. “I am pleased to now be a part of the Cheltenham School District community.” 

Horsey attended Bennett College for her bachelor's degree in social work and received her master’s degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Social Work. Additionally, she is a licensed social worker.

Before returning to Cheltenham, Horsey worked with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services and served children in the child welfare system. She provided social work/casework services to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Baltimore County area. She also was a head start teacher and recently served as a Head Start family engagement worker with the Montgomery County (Pa.) Intermediate Unit.
