Senior Internship Experience Co-Op Profile: Rahmiq Brown

national cte monthFebruary is National Career and Technical Education Month, and we’re profiling CHS seniors enrolled in the Senior Internship Experience (SIE) Co-op program. This new program enables graduating seniors the opportunity to earn credit towards graduation while completing paid, work-based learning experiences aligned with their post-secondary career goals.

A regional provider of technology services specializing in protecting their clients from cyber threats, equipment failures, environmental issues or human errors, the Tashman Tech Group hired CHS senior Rahmiq Brown as a senior co-op employee for his SIE, and he’s been training under his supervisor Rick Tashman. Brown has been helping Tashman clients implement hardware and software, and installing, configuring, testing, and updating software and firmware, in addition to providing tech support and troubleshooting services for several of Tashman’s clients. He’s been performing these tasks in on-site and virtual work.

Through the Tashman Tech Group, Brown is also participating in industry certification programs from manufacturers such as Hewlett Packard, Webroot, Schneider Electric and Cisco. Brown plans to study computer science upon graduation. He has been accepted to seven schools and has yet to decide where he's attending.

“We are grateful for the support from local partnering businesses like Tashman Tech Group who are dedicated to providing meaningful career-centered, work-based learning opportunities for our students,” said co-op coordinator Brittney McKenna.

National CTE Month celebrates the value of career and technical education and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.
