Senior Wins Gold at SkillsUSA Competition

hayes wins gold at skills usa comptitionCHS senior Daniel Hayes, a cybersecurity student at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology, won the extemporaneous speaking category at the SkillsUSA District Competition held January 25 – 26, 2022, at Delaware County Technical High School - Folcroft Campus. Hayes, who spoke about things he learned at Eastern which will help with his career, advances to April’s state championship. He plans to study business at Montgomery County Community College next fall.

CHS junior Erin Aikens, a veterinary science student, took third in the quiz bowl category, while CHS junior Tyson Foggie, who’s enrolled in Eastern’s commercial art program, took third in the prepared speech category. In all, 44 Eastern students participated.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. We help each student excel.
