Cheltenham School District Announces Business Office Leadership Appointments
ELKINS PARK (May 3, 2021) - The Cheltenham School District recently announced the appointment of Jeffry Schott as director of business services and Lieu Kim as assistant director of business services and treasurer to the board of directors.
Schott comes to the Cheltenham School District from the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) where he served as the business manager and chief operating officer for the Chester-Upland School District. In that position, the Wilmington, Del., resident oversaw accounting and finance, transportation and food service, was responsible for financial reporting, annual auditing, annual financial reporting (AFR), and monthly board reporting. The school board confirmed Schott’s appointment at its April legislative meeting.
Prior to working for the CCIU, Schott served as the director of tax compliance for the City of Philadelphia, where he was responsible for all tax enforcement revenue generating projects in the city, resulting in more than $100M in annual tax revenue, and directed and managed five city bureaus and their 99 staff members. A certified public accountant, Schott graduated from Penn State with an accounting degree and earned a master’s in taxation from Goldey-Beacom in 2015.
Kim, whose appointment the school board confirmed at its March legislative meeting, comes to the district from the EASTERN Center for Arts and Technology, where she spent three years as a staff accountant and treasurer to the board. She succeeds Karen Washington, In her role, she assisted in the preparation of the annual budget, participated in annual audit, managed various district funds, prepared monthly bank reconciliations and ran student funds, among other responsibilities. Prior to working at EASTERN, Kim was an accountant for NFI Industries, a fully integrated North American supply chain solutions provider headquartered in Camden, N.J.
“I’m excited to begin this new chapter in my journey,” said Kim, who resides in Elkins Park, Pa. “I am going to capitalize on the ample opportunities and resources this position offers and further develop the district’s culture of excellence.”
A member of the Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley Associations of School Business Officials, Kim earned her Master of Business Administration degree from La Salle in 2019 and graduated from Rutgers University with bachelor’s degree in finance in 2014.
