Boys and Girls Swimming Win Medals, Break School Records at Freedom Division Championships
Congratulations to the CHS swimmers and divers on an exceptional Suburban One League Freedom Division Championship meet, at which the boys finished second (370 points) and the girls fourth (325 points). All told, the squads combined for 13 medals - five gold, five silver and three bronze.
Senior Eli Kofman won gold and broke the school records in the 200 IM (1:57.29) and 100 breast (1:00.05). The 200 IM record was 57 years old. Sophomore Darien Williams won gold in the 500 free (4:53.6) and a silver in the 200 free (1:47.88). The 200 medley relay of Darien Williams, Eli Kofman, Chase Montgomery and Ben Lee finished second (1:44.37), and the 200 free relay of Eli Kofman, Anthony Feeney, Chase Montgomery and Darien Williams took third (1:34.67). Senior Jared Seehusahai won silver in the one-meter diving competition with 373.65 points.
For the girls, sophomore Fiona McMahon won gold in the 100 free (56.63) and finished second in the 200 free (2:02.84), and freshman Kala Zingle earned gold and broke the school record in the 100 back (1:03.45) and finished second in the 100 free (58.14). Freshman Me’Khai Beyah earned third place in the 100 fly (1:05.27) and 100 breast (1:09.79). The 200 medley relay of Zingle, Beyah, Molly O’Neill and McMahon finished second (1:55.85) and broke the school record.
The team finished 2-2 during the regular season and swimmers have recorded more than 100 personal bests, and broken six school records.
