Cheltenham Youth and Law Enforcement Forum
On Monday, March 13th, Cheltenham High School students from grades nine through twelve participated in the first-ever Cheltenham Youth and Law Enforcement Forum, held at Arcadia University. The Montgomery County Working Group for the Pennsylvania Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Statewide Initiative sponsored the event. The day focused on building meaningful dialogue between police officers and teenagers. Students participated in panel discussions, engaged in role-playing scenarios with police officers, and enjoyed one-on-one conversations during breakfast and lunch with Cheltenham Township police officers. Leading up to the day of the event, Defense Attorney Leslie Jones visited several CHS student groups, including the CHS Freshman Seminar classes, where Ms. Jones worked with Ms. LaTorre to capture student insights and to explore topics of social justice.
