PMEA is the Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association, and each year they hold Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Festivals at the District, Region, and State level. Participants, selected by competitive audition, earn the opportunity to make music with a renowned conductor at a three-day festival, playing or singing alongside the best student musicians in their area.
For the District 11 Chorus Festival, 5 CHS students, Maddie August, Grace Bitterman, Owen Davies, Joe Reilly, and Mikayla Stone, will join about 150 other students selected from a pool of over 300 auditionees from across Bucks and Montgomery counties. They will prepare several pieces for the festival January 12-14 at Lower Moreland High School. The festival will be led by Dr. Amelia Garbisch, choral conductor and Associate Professor of Music Education at Bloomsburg University.
For the District 11 Band Festival, Billy Saurmann was selected and will perform in the festival February 8-10 at Quakertown High School.
Five CHS students were selected for the District Orchestra Festival: Max Aires, Naomi Aires, Chris Luk, Jacob Petrisko, and Billy Saurmann. (Billy was selected for both Orchestra and Band. They will participate in the Orchestra Festival January 26-28 at Upper Merion.
