ELKINS PARK SCHOOL 2016-2017 LEADERSHIP ACADEMY TIE CEREMONY
Twenty-five proud students were inducted into the Elkins Park School Leadership Academy on Monday, December 12th. The Elkins Park Leadership Academy supports its members by fostering a sense of academic pride and self efficacy. Those inducted into the group receive a tie while accepting the challenge of upholding the academy's leadership pledge. This year's tie ceremony opened with greetings from Elkins Park School Principal, Dr. Gerry Fitzpatrick-Doria and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Wagner Marseille. After, inductees took the stage to form a circle and define their purpose. Members of the Cheltenham Township Police Department then joined students on stage to present each with his tie. Pairing up with an academy inductee, the guest officers showed them how to make a tie knot. Cheltenham Township Chief of Police, John Frye and Reverend Marshall Mitchell of Salem Baptist Church closed out the ceremony with remarks about lifelong leadership.
