CHS Student, Fred Fox, Named Eastern Student of the Month

Fred Fox Fred Fox is the November 2016 Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove. He is in EASTERN’s Electrical Technology program and a senior at Cheltenham High School. The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by EASTERN’s faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor.

Fred always knew he wanted a career in which he worked with his hands. As a sophomore at Cheltenham High School, he visited EASTERN’s Open House and decided to come for a tour and visited several programs, finding the Electrical Technology program the right fit for him.

At EASTERN, Fred is a Schoolwide Officer for SkillsUSA, EASTERN’s student leadership organization. He was chosen by his instructor last summer as part of the student team from the Electrical Technology class to install new wiring throughout the building. At Cheltenham High School, he was chosen as a Student of the Month in 2014. He is also actively involved with his church and its youth leadership group. One of his favorite youth group activities is feeding the homeless.

“Fred is a hard worker with an exceptional work ethic,” said Gary Felmey, EASTERN’s Electrical Technology Instructor. “His determination to succeed and his willingness to learn and constantly improve will definitely help him throughout his life.”

After graduation from Cheltenham High School and EASTERN’s Electrical Technology program, Fred plans to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98 Union after taking his entrance exam in April 2017. He is also going to enlist in the Army Reserves, and eventually own his own electrical company.
