taylor headshot(August 18, 2022) After more than a decade teaching kindergarten at Wyncote Elementary and completing several interim principal assignments in the past few years, Mr. Jim Taylor has been named the principal of Wyncote Elementary School. Taylor succeeds Dr. Crystal Clark, who has been appointed the principal at Elkins Park School.

“It is an honor to return home to Wyncote Elementary School as the principal,” said Mr. Taylor, who most recently served as the vice principal at Cedarbrook Middle School. “Together with our families and extraordinary staff, we will maintain high expectations for teaching and learning and behaviors as we follow the Wyncote Way.”

Mr. Taylor started in the Cheltenham School District as a first grade teacher at Myers Elementary (2004-2008) before serving as a kindergarten teacher at Wyncote (2008-2019). He was the interim principal at Wyncote during the second half of the 2019-2020 school year and again this past winter/spring. In addition, Mr. Taylor served as the interim principal at Cedarbrook Middle School during the 2020-21 school year.

“After several stints as interim principal, Mr. Taylor has demonstrated he is ready to take the helm as principal,” said CSD Superintendent Dr. Brian Scriven. “During Mr. Taylor’s previous tenures as teacher and interim principal at Wyncote, he built trust and familiarity with the Wyncote community, and I look forward to seeing how he deepens and broadens those relationships with our families and their children in his role as principal.”

In May 2020, Mr. Taylor earned a master’s in educational leadership (with distinction) from Arcadia University and his Pennsylvania K-12 Principal certification. He holds two other master’s degrees, an M.A. in education from La Salle and a master’s in divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Emory & Henry.

Mr. Taylor resides in Elkins Park with his husband.
