Myers Elementary Earns PBIS Recognition

Myers PBIS RecognitionFor the second consecutive year, Myers Elementary School achieved state recognition for its dynamic implementation of the schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, which serves as the school’s framework for rewarding and supporting student academic achievement and behavior.

"Getting PBIS up and running at Myers has been a challenging and rewarding multi-year process,” said Carli Segal, school counselor & PBIS building coach. “Successfully implementing PBIS takes a whole school effort from our amazing students to all dedicated staff members with family/PTO support."

At Myers, students are celebrated for their safe, respectful and responsible learning by earning Peace Train tickets for weekly prize drawings, class compliment cards for classwide rewards, and schoolwide monthly incentives such as the September “Chill” Blacktop Beach Event, GLOW Dance Party, Myers Masquerade, and more. PBIS is a key ingredient for maintaining a positive, peaceful, and productive school climate at Myers Elementary.

“I'm so grateful the Myers PBIS leadership team has taken the time to develop all the systemic keys to implementing PBIS with fidelity and received this hard-earned recognition. Having all stakeholders buying in and our students enthusiastically responding to these efforts helps to make Myers a place that feels like a warm, loving, and supportive environment for everyone," Segal continued.

Myers will be acknowledged at the 2021 Virtual Equity is MTSS, PAPBS Implementers' Forum later this month with a listing in the annual PaPBS network booklet and participation in a celebratory virtual luncheon.
