Cheltenham Elementary Hosts Third Annual Family Code and Robotics Night

Photos from CES Family Code Night On Wednesday, March 27, Cheltenham Elementary School hosted more than 200 people for its third annual Family Code and Robotics Night. Students and parents partnered to learn beginner computer coding skills by programming Angry Birds characters to solve puzzles and navigate challenging mazes. Teams took their progress sheets home to continue their problem solving. Computer science teacher Sarah Putterman also attended to show visitors some hands-on, unplugged coding activities.

Robotics was included in this event for the first time this year. Cheltenham third and fourth graders demonstrated how to program various kinds of robots, including Rokenbok robots, Ozobots, Dash and Dot, Root, and Spheros. In addition, the robotics teams from Cheltenham High School and Cedarbrook Middle School demonstrated the robots they built for their FIRST Robotics League competition.
