CES Presents Young Playwrights Festival

young playwrights performing(June 7, 2022) On Thursday, June 3, Cheltenham Elementary third and fourth graders presented excerpts from eight original plays. The students have been working since October with CES teacher Gerald Aungst and two teaching artists from Philadelphia Young Playwrights, BJ Tindal and Erik Reyes. During the festival, professional actors brought to life the young writers’ stories about thought-provoking mysteries, magical portals, complicated friendships, and many, many cats.

Thirty-nine student playwrights wrote eight plays. Fourth graders in small groups wrote the first seven below; the final play was a group effort by CES third graders.
