  • Facilities Committee Presentation August 2020

    With co-chair Charles Burdell-Williams presiding, the Facilities Committee convened on Tuesday, Aug. 4 in a Zoom seminar room, which allowed the public to participate in real-time. The agenda included updates on COVID-19, facilities maintenance, capital projects for 2020-2021, facilities condition assessment report and SchoolDude. Committee members were briefed about the air conditioning project at Elkins Park, which is more than 50 percent completed, carpet replacement in Elkins Park classrooms, ADA upgrades at the high school and administration building and more. The facilities condition assessment has started for the district's remaining schools. The data will be collected and district is hopeful to present it at the October meeting. The next Facilities committee meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation May 2020

    With co-chair David Cohen presiding, the Facilities Committee convened on Tuesday, May 5 in a Zoom seminar room, which allowed the public to view the meeting and submit questions in real-time. The agenda included updates on  facilities maintenance, facilities condition assessment report and SchoolDude. Committee members were briefed about the facilities condition assessment, which was recently completed in the district’s 5-12 buildings. More information from the report will be delivered in the next committee meeting, Tuesday, June 2.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation April 2020

    With co-chair David Cohen presiding via Zoom, the Facilities Committee convened on Tuesday, April 14. The agenda included updates on COVID-19-related facilities and maintenance updates, facilities building updates, facilities condition assessment and project works. Committee members were briefed about the Elkins Park School air conditioning upgrades, which will include adding power to support installing window AC units throughout the building, and the need for this work to be approved to continue during the government-mandated COVID-19 school shutdown. The committee meets next on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

    With co-chair David Cohen presiding, the Facilities Committee convened on Tuesday, Feb 4. The agenda included updates on the following: School district buildings, facilities condition assessment, Elkins Park AC, sustainability  and SchoolDude progress. Director of Facilities and Maintenance David Teasdale delivered project updates for all schools and the administration building. Committee members were briefed about the Elkins Park AC upgrades, which will include adding power to support installing window AC units throughout the building, and a more robust implementation of SchoolDude, a software suite for educational institutions which streamlines maintenance management, facility usage, technology management and energy management. The committee meets next on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation December 2019

    The Facilities Committee convened on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and updates were provided on the first stage of a Facilities Condition Assessment for district facilities, which would include assessments on the high school, Cedarbrook and Elkins Park this year and the remaining schools and buildings during the summer of the 20-21 budget year. Building project updates were given on the high school, Cedarbrook, Elkins Parkeach elementary school and the Administration Building boiler replacement. Committee members were briefed about vehicles, grounds equipment replacement, and efforts surrounding sustainability and a more robust implementation of SchoolDude, a software suite for educational institutions which streamlines maintenance management, facility usage, technology management and energy management. The committee meets next on Tuesday, Jan. 72020.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation November 2019

    The Facilities Committee convened on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and updates were provided on the LED lighting upgrades to the high school gymnasium, which includes a $5,500 PECO rebate. Replacing lights will yield a savings of more than $50K over the next decade and decrease energy usage by nearly 60 percent. Building project updates were given on Cedarbrook, each elementary school and the Administration Building boiler replacement. Committee members were briefed about vehicle and grounds equipment replacement in regard to buying or leasing. The implementation of a facilities condition assessment across the district and how this will help create the capital improvement plan was presented. Efforts surrounding sustainability and a more robust implementation of SchoolDude, a software suite for educational institutions which streamlines maintenance management, facility usage, technology management, and energy management. The committee meets next on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation October 2019

    The Facilities Committee convened on October 2 and presentations and updates were provided for the high school library/media center, which is completed and set to oplen to students on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and student courtyard and its final clean  up. Additional updates were provided in relation to district-wide building maintenance performed over the past month, including HVAC repairs at the Cheltenham Elementary and Elkins Park; painting the high school corridors; LED lighting installation (Wyncote completed; work beginning at Glenside); and boiler installation at the Administration Building (underway). A capital improvement plan is in progress and will include a facilities condition assessment update. Efforts surrounding sustainability and a more robust implementation of School Dude, a software suite for educational establishments, which provides solutions to improve operational areas, including – maintenance management and facility usage.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation September 2019

    The Facilities Committee convened on September 3, and presentations and updates were provided for the following projects at the high school: Library/Media Center (opening date pending); Courtyard, where finishing details are being completed on an ADA Ramp; CHS Gymnasium, which has been completed and in operation; and the Stretton Hall Structural Wall, for which we are awaiting an engineering report. 
     
    Additional updates were provided in relation to district-wide building maintenance performed over the summer and start of school year, including HVAC repairs at the high school and Elkins Parkpainting the high school corridors; LED lighting installation (Wyncote completed. Work beginning at Glenside); Administration Building boiler project planned for next month; and Facilities short- and long-term goals for the year.

  • Facilities Committee Presentation August 2019

    The inaugural Facilities Committee meeting of the school year was held Tuesday Aug. 6. Presentations and updates were provided for the following projects: CHS Media Center (scheduled completion of 9/15), student courtyard (adding finishing details), CHS gymnasium (sanded and stained and scheduled to be painted 8/15), and Stretton Hall structural wall (awaiting engineering report). Additional updates were provided in relation to Districtwide building maintenance work performed this summer (summer cleaning, air conditioner installation at Elkins Park cafeteria, Elkins Park painting, grounds preparation), LED lighting project (Wyncote completed with work beginning at Glenside), Administration Building boiler project and Facilities goals for the year.     During the May 2018 Facilities Committee meeting, Dr. Ray Bavi updated the school board on the status of the Cedarbrook construction project which is 94% complete. The scope of work for the CHS choral/band room HVAC project was discussed at length and due to the lack of bids, this project has been tabled.
