EP Soar Corp Learns Cyberbullying Prevention from Local Lawyer and Appellate Judge

Google’s Online Safety Roadshow Comes to Elkins Park
(Dec. 19, 2023) Google completed its first Online Safety Roadshow stop in the region by presenting to sixth grade students at Elkins Park School this morning. The program came to CSD through Pennsylvania Representative Napoleon J. Nelson’s office. The program is at Cedarbrook Middle School on Wednesday.

NBC10 Reporter Teaches EP Gifted Students Empathic Storytelling
(Dec. 14, 2023) NBC10 Reporter Brenna Weick visited EP gifted students to teach them about empathetic interviews for their upcoming empathy project, in which students will learn to tell journalistic stories through the lens of empathy with interviews and photographs.

CEF Grant Brings Coding and Robotics to EP
(November 15, 2023) Earlier this month, several fifth-grade classes at Elkins Park were introduced to a new STEM and robotics program by Kevin Murphy, the district’s instructional technology teacher leader for K-6. As part of the initiative, students programmed and tested robots with the goal of creating code for their robot to complete a successful rescue mission.

CSD Innovation Launches FluxSpace Field Trips
(Nov. 14, 2023) CSD’s Department of Innovation launched the first of its sixth-grade field trips to FluxSpace in Norristown earlier this month, as part of the MontCo Build Back Better Grant. FluxSpace’s standard STEM Day field trip is inspired by the new STEELS (Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability) standards surrounding design engineering and design thinking.

Teeing It Up
(September 6, 2023) Throughout this summer, Elkins Park staffer Tai Crutchfield teed up life lessons for up to 50 CSD students by teaching them about the game of golf. During the two four-week sessions he offered through First Tee - Greater Philadelphia, Crutchfield taught youngsters driving, chipping and putting, but also other lessons the game has to offer.
