Elkins Park Students Treat Someone Special to Breakfast
Elkins Park School hosted Breakfast with Someone Special this week. This event gives students a chance to spend time with anyone who is special to them. More than 400 students, friends and family members were hosted over two days! A huge thank you to the EP community and Fill a Bagel for donating food for the event.

Elkins Park Leadership Academy Program Hosts Annual Tie Ceremony
After a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19, 17 sixth graders participated in the seventh annual Elkins Park School Leadership Academy Program’s (LAP) high impact tie ceremony this past week with a virtual audience of nearly 100 family, friends and community members watching.

EP Students Meet Holocaust Survivor and Siblings
Lise Marlowe’s Elkins Park sixth graders learned about the incredible story of the Danon siblings, Holocaust survivor Sarah Meller and her siblings, Isak and Esther, at a meet and greet this week at Kenneseth Israel (KI) in Elkins Park. The students met the family and asked questions to further their understanding of the difficult journey the family had to freedom.

EP Student Performing in “The Nutcracker” at the Academy of Music
Elkins Park fifth grader Melecio Amaro, member of Jenkintown’s Metropolitan Ballet Company, will be performing in the Philadelphia Ballet’s December run of Balanchine’s beloved holiday classic “The Nutcracker” at the Academy of Music.

Timothy Holman Named Director of Facilities and Maintenance at the Cheltenham School District
Timothy Holman has been appointed the Cheltenham School District Director of Facilities and Maintenance. Holman most recently served in the same capacity at the Pennsbury School District since 2020, and will begin his CSD tenure on Monday, Nov. 8. The board of school directors approved the appointment at its Tuesday, Oct. 12 legislative meeting.

EP Students Collaborate to Win Playwriting Contest at Philadelphia Young Playwrights Annual Festival
Elkins Park students Hannah Dreibelbis and Tina Ramberg-Michael won the elementary school playwriting contest at the recent Philadelphia Young Playwrights (PYP) annual playwriting and monologue festival with their work “Calypso and the Quest for the Marigold Stones.”

CHS Alumnus Dr. Brian W. Scriven ’83 Tapped as Cheltenham School District Superintendent
Following a national search, Dr. Brian W. Scriven, a 1983 graduate of Cheltenham High School with nearly two decades of experience as an educational administrator, has been selected as the superintendent of the Cheltenham School District. Board president Pamela Henry announced the board will vote on the appointment prior to next Tuesday’s educational affairs committee meeting. Dr. Scriven’s first day on the job is slated for Monday, Nov. 1.

Cheltenham School District, Township Police Agree to Revised Memorandum of Understanding to Guide Relationship Moving Forward
After months of negotiations, the Cheltenham School District and Cheltenham Township Police Department have agreed to major revisions of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. The school district board of school directors considered its own goals, input from local advocacy groups and public comment from recent legislative board meetings in its approach to reworking of the document. The final, approved MOU aims to foster a relationship of cooperation and mutual support and to maintain a safe school environment.

EP Walking Club Hits the Track for Big Miles
Elkins Park School students participated in a lunchtime walking club this spring. Students completed laps around the track to earn charms that were collected on silver chains. Participating students walked a combined 796 miles!
