ABOUT MYERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Myers Elementary School is located at 7609 Montgomery Avenue, a close walk from the Elkins Park and Melrose Park train stations. Myers reopened its doors as a fully renovated building in September 2009.
Welcome to Myers Elementary School, home of the Peace Train! Our unique mascot represents our incredible students who are kind and driven. Our K-4 learning community set in the culturally rich neighborhood of Elkins Park celebrates our diverse student population. Our dedicated educators continually participate in cultural proficiency discussions and we proudly stand up to all forms of prejudice and intolerance, infusing anti-racism into regular lessons and activities. Highly qualified, student-centered teachers provide engaging, enriching academic content with differentiation to meet all students at the best place to help them learn and grow, while utilizing multiple data points and a team-based analytic approach to track and support student performance.
We are a proud Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school earning state recognition for our school-wide behavior recognition system that ensures a safe, positive and peaceful school climate where students love to come to school. At Myers, academic growth and safe, respectful and responsible behavior are regularly rewarded at the individual, classroom, and school-wide levels.
In addition to academic and behavioral programming, the Myers community educates the whole child. Staff regularly infuses growth mindset and mindfulness strategies to support and boost students’ emotional development in order to help them flourish in and outside of the classroom, and a full-time school counselor supports the social and emotional needs of all students.
We are proud to offer a variety of extracurricular clubs, including our Myers Student News Network, Robotics Team, Problem Solving, Reading Olympics, Student Council and Choir. Our school benefits from a positive, productive relationship with our supportive and engaged Myers families and surrounding community, particularly those involved in our strong PTO. Cheltenham School District prides itself on our arts-related programming and we at Myers offer all students particular richness in our music program. As our school song reminds us, “Myers is our school, it's where I can be the best I can be! If we work hand in hand, united we stand - it's the Myers school we love.”
