Daniel Schultz

ABOUT MR. SCHULTZ | SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTOR

Daniel Schultz is a proud graduate of Cheltenham High School (Class of 2005) and returned to the district in 2016 to raise his family in the community that shaped him. He is currently serving his second term on the Cheltenham School Board, where he is vice president and co-chair of the Financial Affairs committee.

Professionally, Mr. Schultz is a civic technologist focused on building open-source tools that support accountability, access to information, and democratic engagement. He is the founder of Bad Idea Factory, a collective of technologists and artists working at the intersection of technology and public interest. He has helped develop projects in collaboration with organizations such as MIT, The Internet Archive, The Boston Globe, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and The Mozilla Foundation.

Mr. Schultz earned his bachelor’s degree in information systems from Carnegie Mellon University and a master’s degree from the MIT Media Lab. He is also an Eagle Scout from Cheltenham’s Troop 116.
