What Families Should Do During An Emergency
Wait for Information from the District
CSD recognizes the importance of good communication with all its families. In the event of an evacuation or early dismissal, parents/guardians will be informed phone and email through the District’s School Messenger as soon as possible about when and where they can pick up their children.
If it is an ongoing event, updates will be provided as new information is available. Information will be made available on the Cheltenham School District website.
Do Not Come to School
The first priority of school and district office personnel is to address the emergency at hand. The normal parental urge is to come to the aid of your child, but in an emergency situation, reporting too early may interfere with emergency responders or with the building’s actions related to moving and accounting for students and staff in an efficient and calm manner.
District staff and emergency responders will do everything possible to make the best decisions to assure everyone’s safety. Parent/guardian cooperation in allowing these professionals to do their jobs in an effective manner is appreciated.
Make sure CSD has your most up-to-date contact information
CSD’s ability to communicate with families is only as effective as the contact information we have. If you are not receiving information or need to update your contact information, visit the update my info form.
