Academics Overview

  • Welcome to Cedarbrook...

At Cedarbrook, all staff and students believe that ALL means ALL.  This emphatic belief is evident in our caring treatment of each member of our Cedarbrook family; our relentless effort to provide a stimulating and rigorous academic program; our multifaceted extracurricular programs; and our tireless efforts to promote and celebrate the diversity that has become synonymous with Cedarbrook Middle School.

Our course offerings, all aligned to national and state standards, empower students to evolve as learners and develop new interests. In CBK classrooms, teachers differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners, incorporate real-world problem-solving opportunities to add relevance to student learning and integrate technology and various instructional strategies to engage students in daily lessons.  Cedarbrook is proud of our designation as a Pennsylvania and National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform School to Watch. We anxiously await the opening of our brand new, state-of-the-art building in 2018.

The CBK schedule includes eight periods per day plus a W.I.N. period. Students attend core classes- E/LA, math, science, social studies, and language- for five periods every day and attend encore classes- art, digital media, family & consumer science, health, learning strategies, music, physical education, and STEM- for two periods a day on a rotating basis. Every student begins the day in W.I.N. period. W.I.N. is an acronym for “What I Need.” This period allows students opportunities for extended learning, enrichment, and intervention. W.I.N. also serves as Cedarbrook’s platform for social-emotional learning.

Cedarbrook is a PBIS school. The mission of the Cedarbrook PBIS framework is to create and facilitate a school culture and behavioral supports that empower ALL students to find success every day.
