Susan Austin, Cheltenham Elementary School Counselor

I am the School Counselor at Cheltenham Elementary School…home of the Dolphins!  This is my 15th year working in the Cheltenham School District and I am looking forward to an amazing year of learning and student growth at Cheltenham Elementary!  I went to Penn State where I earned an Undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies and after a year with AmeriCorps, I returned to Penn State and earned a Master’s degree in Counselor Education. WE ARE…PENN STATE!  Most recently, I earned my certificate in applied positive psychology through the Flourishing Center.  As the mindfulness ambassador, I am dedicated to spreading mindfulness practices to our students and school community. This summer I was afforded an enriching opportunity to attend the American School Counselor Association Annual Conference in New Orleans. This was a valuable experience jam-packed with countless innovative breakout sessions for education and professional development, amazing speakers, and stunning cultural experiences.

My favorite pastimes are reading, watching movies, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.  Also, I am an enthusiastic animal lover and enjoy spending time with my cheerful Boxer, Jules and my exuberant Boxer Pitbull mix, Lincoln.  Recently, I joined ACCT Philly as a volunteer and I am committed to serving as an animal advocate.
