Mr. Jason Lytle

Jason Lytle enters his first year as the principal at Myers Elementary School after five dynamic years at North Philadelphia’s John Hartranft Elementary School where he was responsible for improvements in instructional leadership, school culture, academic outcomes and student behavior.

As principal at the more than 500-student Hartranft Elementary since 2014, Lytle has led a turn-around effort with tremendous success, including improved school Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System ratings; a School Progress Report (SPR) score that increased more than 600 percent from 7 to 43 from 2014 – 2017; the school’s highest SPR score since 2012 – 2013; a No. 4 ranking in its school district-designated peer group in 2018; and the highest category score for progress “MODEL” on the SPR each of the last three years.

Lytle attributes his success to his passion of “empowering students for the world of tomorrow through developing the total child.”

Prior to becoming principal at Hartranft, Lytle taught and served as the dean of students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School from 2008 – 2014 and served as a teacher coach for the School District of Philadelphia for new teachers during the extended school year from 2008 to 2010. Before joining the School District of Philadelphia, Lytle taught at KIPP Philadelphia Charter School, Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa., and Edward Hand Elementary School in Lancaster, Pa.

Lytle graduated from Millersville in 2001 with a B.S. in secondary education (social studies concentration), and completed an M.S. in educational administration (with a 4.0 GPA) from Gwynedd Mercy in 2011.
