Mr. Jim Taylor

PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Welcome to Wyncote Elementary School!

Towards the end of the classic film The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy clicks her heels three times and repeats the familiar mantra, “There is no place like home.”  I feel a similar sense of homecoming every year as we prepare for the start of a new academic year. Having been part of the teaching staff for over a decade, I am honored to serve the community and support the vision and mission of Wyncote Elementary where every child matters as the principal of this school . I am eager to develop relationships with students and new faculty and families, as well as rekindle well-established ones. I will support the excellent faculty and staff as we continue to provide high-quality, data-driven instruction to all students. Above all, I look forward to engaging with our amazing students. They are the primary reason we are all here.

In addition to ensuring continuity of instruction and learning, I will collaborate with our faculty and staff to address our students’ social and emotional needs. We are all living with stress and anxiety and some with levels of trauma. We must address those needs in our young learners as well. As a learning community, we will follow the Wyncote Way and infuse our conversations and daily experiences with kindness and respect.

Wyncote Elementary has a rich history of active parent/guardian support for our programs. Through the efforts of our dedicated PTO, we provide assemblies, occasional field trips and grants to teachers to support innovative work in the classroom. I hope you will consider lending your support to the PTO as the group supports the building vision and focus of “children first.”

Thank you for entrusting your greatest treasure, your child, to our care at Wyncote.  As my great hero Fred Rogers reminds me, “My hope for all of us is that we will be filled with the feelings that come from deep caring – delight, sadness, joy, wisdom – and that in all the endings of our life, we will be able to see the new beginnings.” May this be a season of new beginnings for each of us … and may we find “home” in the midst of the journey.

Welcome home to another great year of teaching and learning at Wyncote Elementary School!

Sincerely,

Mr. Jim Taylor
