All CSD students take music classes starting in Kindergarten. Students have the opportunity to study string and band instruments and sing in choir beginning in fifth grade. Full dramatic plays and musicals are performed yearly at both Cedarbrook Middle School and Cheltenham High School. At the high school level, many student musicians qualify for district, regional, or state ensembles each year, and our CHS bands, orchestras, and choirs regularly receive awards and accolades at regional performance festivals.
Cheltenham School District uses PowerSchool as its student information system. Only parents/guardians of fifth through 12th grade students need to access PowerSchool. Families with students in grade kindergarten through fourth do not need access to PowerSchool.
Access codes were mailed home or sent home with your student, including returning and new students. If you do not know your student and/or family access code, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR BUILDING SECRETARY, WHO CAN ACCESS THE INFORMATION.
If you believe your account needs to be reset, our database administrator Heather Scriven can take care of that for you.
As a reminder, here are the instructions for setting up the PowerSchool App.
1. If you already have the app installed, delete it and reinstall.
2. Download the app from your mobile store, there are iOS and Android versions.
3. Open the app.

Ways We Communicate
Building principals provide families with a student handbook as a guide to success at their school. The intent is to provide students, parents, families and the community with the needed information to be active participants in the education of our students. The policies and procedures presented in these pages relate to the academic, social emotional and safety goals important to establishing and sustaining a healthy school community.
The Office of Student Services supports the learning and teaching environment by addressing students’ academic, career and social/emotional development and providing prevention and intervention programming to meet the holistic needs of our students.
On the Student Services website, please find information for student registration, residency, health services, counseling, social work services, personal and mental health supports, mindfulness resources, 504 services and holistic supports.
This is a general supply list along with some school specific lists some principals may request. Individual teachers may request additional items. Please contact your child's teacher directly.
Teacher Websites/Classroom Portals
Cheltenham School District teachers are provided with several technology tools to use for communicating assignments and delivering classroom content with students and families. At Cheltenham High School, teachers primarily use the learning management system Canvas. Cedarbrook and Elkins Park teachers use primarily Google Classroom and/or maintain a Google Site. K-4 teachers may use Google Sites and/or email and other mobile apps. Please ask your child's teacher which tool they plan to use.
If your child(ren)'s teacher(s) use Canvas, families are able to sign up for an observer account to view student assignments and classroom resources. Steps for creating a parent Canvas account.
If your child(ren)'s teacher(s) use Google Classroom the teacher can invite you to observe using your email address which will then provide you with a daily email listing classroom activity, missing and upcoming work.
