90-Day Entry Plan
Dear Cheltenham School District Community,
It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of the Cheltenham School District. Since joining this extraordinary community, I have been inspired by the deep pride, unwavering commitment, and shared belief that every child deserves an exceptional educational experience.
As I begin this journey, I am excited to share my 90-Day Entry Listening and Learning Plan, a roadmap designed to help me better understand the strengths, opportunities, and aspirations that define Cheltenham. This plan is intentionally grounded in listening first, learning deeply, and leading collaboratively. It reflects my belief that the most effective decisions are informed not only by data, but also by the voices, lived experiences, and collective wisdom of the people who know our schools best.
Over the next several months, I will engage students, families, educators, staff, community members, elected officials, and district partners through a variety of opportunities to listen and learn. These opportunities will include:
- In-person and virtual listening and learning sessions
- In-person community conversations
- Electronic surveys
- Individual conversations (internal and external stakeholders)
- School visits
- Community member, district partner meeting, and/or elected official meetings
Whether you have been part of the Cheltenham community for many years or are new to our district, your perspective matters. I encourage every member of our community to participate in a manner that is most convenient and comfortable for you.
Throughout this process, I will be seeking to better understand how we can continue advancing the district's strategic plan by strengthening excellence in teaching and learning, supporting the holistic well being of students and staff, fostering a culture of belonging, enhancing communication, and ensuring operational excellence. Your experiences, ideas, and hopes for our schools will help shape my understanding and our collective path forward.
This work is not about arriving with predetermined answers. Rather, it is about building meaningful relationships, asking thoughtful questions, examining multiple forms of evidence, and developing a shared understanding of where we are and where we aspire to go together. The insights gathered during this listening and learning process will inform a public Entry Findings Report and help guide my future priorities in alignment with the Cheltenham School District strategic plan.
I invite you to review my 90-Day Entry Listening and Learning Plan, which outlines the focus areas, engagement process, and timeline for this work. I hope you will take time to participate in one or more of the upcoming engagement opportunities and complete the electronic survey when it becomes available. Every voice contributes to a richer understanding of our district and strengthens our ability to serve every student well.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Cheltenham community. I look forward to listening, learning, and partnering with you as we continue our shared commitment to ensuring that every student experiences excellence, equity, belonging, and opportunity.
Together, we will build upon Cheltenham's many strengths while creating even greater opportunities for every student, every family, and every member of our community to thrive.
With gratitude,
Dr. Kendra V. Johnson
Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Cheltenham School District
