Services & Support
The Cheltenham School District provides a continuum of services for students with disabilities who require special education. In compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Pennsylvania School Code, the district provides within its public schools Learning, Emotional, Autistic, Life Skills and Speech and Language Support Programs. Supports are provided in the general education classroom or in small group settings, according to the needs of the each student.
Some highly specialized programs are also provided through Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) and private special education schools. All programs may include a wide variety of services including academic, social/behavioral, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavior support, and speech therapy. The District is focused on increasing its capacity to provide a wide array of services within Cheltenham schools.
